Public Works: Progress in New Phase of School Renovation
Oliveira Ramos has started a new phase of renovation work at a school in Covilhã.
Oliveira Ramos begins renovation work at Silvares Primary School
On July 7, Oliveira Ramos began the full renovation of Silvares Primary School — a large-scale project being carried out in several phases, without interrupting school activities.
In the first stage, extensive demolition work was completed, including interior walls, locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, and the old cafeteria, which will be replaced by a modern open space. Several classrooms were also demolished, and stone mosaic flooring was removed as part of a broad structural renovation.
Next, the team began building new masonry walls, creating divisions for the school’s future spaces. At the same time, a walkway connecting two buildings was demolished using heavy machinery, preparing the area for the new structure.
The construction of the structural footings is currently underway. These footings are the foundation for the new buildings, walkways, and galleries that will connect the school’s blocks and include an elevator. The project also includes a large new training and learning area.
The footings require a rigorous technical process, including steel reinforcement installation, timber formwork, application of lean concrete, correct positioning of the reinforcement, and final concreting.
In addition to these stages, the project includes the complete replacement of roof tiles, the construction of a cover for the sports court, and general finishing work on walls and interior areas, fully modernizing the school’s infrastructure.
Carrying out this project in an active school environment highlights Oliveira Ramos’ technical capability, organization, and professionalism in managing complex and highly demanding public works.
